About the position

The Medical Physicist at Provision Healthcare is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective use of radiation in a clinical setting, focusing on quality assurance and treatment planning. This full-time role emphasizes collaboration with medical staff and the implementation of new technologies to enhance patient care in radiation therapy. The position offers a steady Monday through Friday schedule, promoting work-life balance while contributing to high-quality patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the performance and documentation of quality assurance in radiation therapy.
  • Conduct quality control tests and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Review treatment planning and weekly charts for accuracy and safety.
  • Participate in radiation safety measures and assist in implementing new technology.
  • Collaborate with physicians and communicate effectively with staff members.
  • Manage the medical physics service to meet established standards of practice.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies, including acceptance testing of equipment.
  • Consult with radiation oncologists regarding patient doses and treatment plans.
  • Maintain records necessary for regulatory compliance and quality management programs.
  • Direct the determination of radiation dose distributions in patients undergoing treatment.

Requirements

  • Master of Science or Doctoral degree in Radiological Physics, Physics, or related discipline.
  • Certification by the American Board of Radiology or American Board of Medical Physics in Therapeutic Radiological Physics or Radiological Physics.
  • At least three years post-degree clinical experience in therapeutic medical physics.
  • Completion of a clinical medical physics residency program preferred.
  • Working knowledge of radiation safety principles and regulations.
  • Extensive knowledge of modern radiation therapy systems and treatment planning software.
  • Proficiency in using radiation-measuring equipment and oncology information systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Mosaiq and RayStation treatment planning systems.
  • Coding skills in Python or C++.
