About the position

Rehab Group, a leader in the rehabilitation community, is seeking an experienced medical office multi-duty receptionist and billing and coding specialist for our outpatient physical therapy clinic located in Morristown, TN. As a medical receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our patients, responsible for greeting them, checking them in, and ensuring that all necessary information is verified and updated in our medical records database. You will perform all registration functions, collect copays, and manage balances due as appropriate. A strong understanding of insurance processes, including pre-certifications, benefits, and referral needs, is essential. You will also maintain computerized scheduling, file charts, and coordinate paperwork as requested. Additionally, you will handle incoming and outgoing phone calls, providing information and confirming appointments as needed. In your capacity as a billing and coding specialist, you will engage in various practice management tasks, including retrieving old accounts receivable, resubmitting corrected claims, and verifying insurance. Your role will also involve prior authorizations and identifying opportunities to enhance the success of our clinics as we continue to grow. Experience in medical billing is required, and while coding certifications are a plus, they are not mandatory. You will be responsible for general ICD-10 to CPT mapping, claim submissions, denial management, and providing feedback to the provider team to ensure timely and effective handling of all aspects of the revenue cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and check them in, verifying and updating necessary information in the medical records/database.
  • Perform all registration functions and collect copays and balances due as appropriate.
  • Maintain computerized scheduling and follow office scheduling policies.
  • File charts and coordinate paperwork as requested.
  • Answer and screen telephone calls, take messages, and provide appropriate information to phone callers.
  • Assist with charge entry and/or coding issues, and other related work if requested.
  • Retrieve old accounts receivable and resubmit corrected claims.
  • Verify insurance and handle prior authorizations.
  • Engage in general ICD-10 to CPT mapping and claim submissions.
  • Manage denial processes and provide feedback to the provider team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year of experience as a medical receptionist required.
  • 1 year of experience in ICD-10 coding preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in CPT coding preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in accounts receivable retrieval preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in prior authorizations preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in insurance verification/benefits preferred.
  • 1 year of experience with EMR systems preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Coding certifications (not required but preferred).
  • Experience in a physical therapy clinic.
