About the position

The Business Liaison supports the City Manager's Office and city partners by facilitating projects related to economic development, downtown re-development and tourism for the City. The position performs a wide variety of professional level research, administrative and analytical duties in support of these functions, operations, and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the liaison to the Corpus Christi Downtown Management District, Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation and Convention and Visitors Bureau
  • Maintain a high degree of responsibility, confidentiality, and clear communication with City Manager, Assistant City Manager, City Attorneys, Department Directors, Staff, Citizens, and other organizational leadership
  • Responsible for publishing Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone and Type A Corporation Agendas
  • Develop and implement new policies to support improving quality of life, investment and development opportunities for the City
  • Prepare extensive research, analysis, and document management
  • Manage and champion various projects, requiring varying levels of research and coordination between different programs and outside agencies
  • Coordinate multiple meetings, gather feedback, and maintain a sense of urgency for implementation
  • Manage and administer the monthly agenda/meeting preparation process for the Type A and Type B Corporations
  • Advocate for City programs and assist with policy development
  • Manage contracts with the Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation, Corpus Christi Downtown Management District, and Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors Bureau
  • Assist agencies with navigating City processes; advocate for agencies as needed
  • Oversee annual reporting and contract updates for tourism related, City owned facilities in Downtown area
  • Annually review the City's Economic Development and Community Development efforts, strategize, organize, and document the plan for the upcoming year
  • Review all Legistar items for Economic Development and any legal agreements that result from actions of the City or the CCREDC for incentives
  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 5 years of related experience
  • Master's Degree highly preferred
  • A valid driver's license is required
  • Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire
