About the position

The City of Corpus Christi is seeking applicants for a position within the Aviation - Public Safety department. This role involves directing emergency calls at the Airport, monitoring communication systems, and ensuring the safety and security of the airport environment. The position requires regular attendance for a 40-hour rotating work week, including weekends and holidays, with mandatory overtime when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Direct appropriate units to answer all emergency calls originating at the Airport or transferred from the 911 system.
  • Monitor the 800 MHz radio and aircraft emergency ring-down systems, record information generated by calls for service in a computer database, and relay information to mutual aid agencies.
  • Serve as the switchboard operator for all phone calls received by the Airport when required.
  • Safeguard private and personal information generated by law enforcement and Homeland Security activities.
  • Monitor the Access Control System (ACS) to maintain restricted access to secured areas of the Airport.
  • Dispatch Public Safety Units to trouble and door alarms caused by improper system use or suspected unlawful activity.
  • Monitor all doors and access points to the airfield and restricted areas.
  • Delete or suspend access in the ACS due to potential security breaches.
  • Monitor multiple screens including a video wall covering over 50 cameras throughout the Airport property.
  • Utilize the Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) System to provide accurate information to responding officers.
  • Assist the badging and credential section as needed, including issuing security badges.
  • Handle security sensitive information as mandated by TSA regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Six (6) months to 1 year of related experience.
  • Texas DPS - TCIC/NCIC Certification, TCOLE-Telecommunicator Certification, and American Red Cross First Aid/CPR Certification required within six months of hire.
  • Valid Texas Class 'C' Driver's License required at time of hire.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office software accurately.
  • Ability to transmit clearly and effectively using radio and telephone equipment.
