About the position

The Senior Group Leader assists with the development of the Summer Day Camp Program for children aged 5-13 years. This role involves developing age-appropriate activity plans for theme weeks, determining program supplies, and implementing programs such as arts and crafts and healthy living activities. The Senior Group Leader provides leadership to ensure a safe and caring environment that promotes positive child development and assists with the planning and implementation of special events.

Responsibilities

  • Lead children aged 5 to 13 years and address any concerns expressed by the children.
  • Continuously redirect children to limit any possible disciplinary issues.
  • Prepare classroom for children by ensuring that it meets safety regulations set by DFPS.
  • Decorate classroom according to summer camp theme by drawing, painting, and hanging up signs.
  • Move classroom furniture around as needed to ensure proper classroom setup.
  • Prepare and assist with daily reports such as incident reports and discipline referrals.
  • Request supplies for classroom activities and fill out classroom inspection forms.
  • Receive and issue receipts for weekly tuition as needed.
  • Prepare revenue deposits and deliver to financial institution as needed.
  • Plan and execute daily activities for class, ensuring the matrix is followed.
  • Set up at least four activity centers in the classroom.
  • Instruct and lead children in both indoor and outdoor recreational games and activities.
  • Lead children on weekly field trips while following safety guidelines.
  • Ensure constant communication with custodial and administrative staff at the school.
  • Communicate daily with parents and guardians while providing excellent customer service.
  • Maintain communication with Camp Coordinator and Area Manager about any issues with children or parents.
  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Six (6) months to one (1) year of related experience.
  • Must obtain CPR and First Aid certifications before job assignment.
  • A valid Texas driver's license is preferred.

Benefits

  • Hourly pay of $10.77.
  • Non-rotating 40 hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
  • Must be available to work additional hours as needed.
