The Medical Receptionist at UofL Health plays a crucial role in providing patient-centered care by managing front desk operations, including answering calls, scheduling appointments, and maintaining patient records. Responsibilities

  • Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting warmly and answering or referring inquiries.
  • Utilizes Epic to register patients according to standard procedures.
  • Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records.
  • Responds to customer needs with care, courtesy, and respect.
  • Provides prompt service to customers and listens attentively to understand their needs.
  • Communicates pertinent clinical/work status information to employers and team members as assigned.
  • Interacts effectively and supportively with persons of all backgrounds.
  • Respects and maintains the privacy and dignity of patients, assuring confidentiality at all times.
  • Provides efficient and professional telephone services.
  • Schedules appointments for patients and makes appointment reminder calls.
  • Scans and files administrative and medical information in patients' medical records.
  • Maintains forms and office supplies required for call center activities.
  • Participates in staff and educational meetings.
  • Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reports needed changes.
  • Contributes to team effort to assure excellent patient care and service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year medical office experience preferred
  • 1 year collection of co-pay and remaining balances experience preferred
  • Dependable and professional demeanor
  • Ability to work as a team player
  • Energetic and motivated attitude
