As a Medical Receptionist in the Ortho/Spine unit, you will support the delivery of patient care by providing clerical and receptionist services to patients, families, visitors, staff, physicians, and departments that support patient care. Your role will facilitate efficient workflow, support appropriate use of technology, and foster effective communication. You will be working with adult patients ranging in age from young adults to geriatrics who are being treated for elective spinal surgeries. Our patients are unique because they have a variety of spinal disorders with several teams working in collaboration to provide high-quality care throughout their stay, which usually lasts from 24 hours to 3-4 days. In this position, you will process orders according to guidelines, follow computer downtime procedures, enter and update information in the computer system to assure current information, and retrieve data accurately. You will maintain the unit log according to guidelines, make follow-up appointments, and perform discharge-related clerical tasks. Responding to patient call systems and patient requests will be a key part of your responsibilities, providing clear and current information to families, visitors, and staff. You will also utilize various communication tools and equipment to facilitate the flow of communication, equipment, and supplies, while managing supplies in a cost-effective manner.
