Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital in Stevens Point, WI is seeking a Medical Receptionist to join our team in the Emergency Department. The Medical Receptionist plays a crucial role in the healthcare experience by greeting, registering, and assisting patients in a professional manner. This position is essential for ensuring that patients feel welcomed and supported from the moment they arrive. The Medical Receptionist is responsible for efficiently scheduling patient appointments according to established parameters defined by office policy and procedure. This includes obtaining and maintaining complete and accurate registration records, which are vital for the smooth operation of the department. In addition to patient registration, the Medical Receptionist is responsible for answering all phone calls, providing routine information to callers, and transferring calls to the appropriate individual in a courteous and professional manner. This role requires excellent communication skills, as the Medical Receptionist must interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals effectively. The position is part-time, requiring 48 hours per two-week pay period, with a commitment to work every other weekend and holiday. This schedule allows for flexibility while ensuring that the Emergency Department is adequately staffed to meet patient needs. Responsibilities

  • Greet and register patients in a professional manner.
  • Schedule patient appointments according to established office policies and procedures.
  • Obtain and maintain complete and accurate registration records.
  • Answer phone calls, provide routine information, and transfer calls to appropriate individuals.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all phases of work, adhering to HIPAA regulations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year of business office, customer service, or healthcare experience preferred.
  • Basic computer experience and keyboarding skills required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology desirable.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Ability to file and maintain patient records and correspondence.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with patients, employees, and the public.
  • Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision under pressure.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws regarding HIPAA and release of information.
