The Medical Receptionist is responsible for obtaining and maintaining complete and accurate registration records, which are essential for the smooth operation of the department. Additionally, the Receptionist answers all phone calls, providing routine information to callers and transferring calls to the appropriate individual in a courteous and professional manner. This position is full-time or 0.8 FTE, requiring 64 hours per two-week pay period. Responsibilities

  • Greet and register patients in a professional manner.
  • Schedule patient appointments according to established office policies and procedures.
  • Obtain and maintain complete and accurate registration records.
  • Answer phone calls, provide routine information, and transfer calls to appropriate individuals.
  • Assist patients with inquiries and provide excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year of business office, customer service, or healthcare experience preferred.
  • Basic computer experience and keyboarding skills required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is desirable.
  • Ability to file and maintain patient records and correspondence.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with patients, employees, and the public.
  • Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision under pressure.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws regarding HIPAA and release of information.
