About the position

Cape Regional Health System is an integrated healthcare delivery system that serves residents and visitors throughout Cape May County. The organization is committed to providing high-quality healthcare services through its network of over 60 primary care providers and specialists, who deliver services across multiple locations in the county. The ideal candidate for this position will possess a solid understanding of medical insurance terminology, strong computer skills for scheduling, and familiarity with general office procedures and equipment. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for greeting visitors and assisting them during the check-in, intake, and checkout processes. Providing outstanding customer service is a key aspect of this position, as the candidate will be the first point of contact for patients. The candidate will also be tasked with scheduling appointments and accurately recording information in the Practice Management System, which includes an Electronic Scheduling System. Additionally, the candidate will answer telephone calls, route them appropriately, and verify insurance eligibility, ensuring that all requirements are met while explaining the process to patients as needed. Collecting co-pays and performing other assigned duties will also be part of the job responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Greets visitors and assists them during check-in, intake, and checkout.
  • Provides outstanding customer service.
  • Schedules appointments and records information in the Practice Management System (Electronic Scheduling System).
  • Answers telephone calls and routes them appropriately.
  • Verifies insurance eligibility, ensures requirements are met, and explains to patients as needed.
  • Collects co-pays.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in customer service or reception, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • Previous data entry or typing experience and knowledge of basic office equipment required.
  • Computer experience preferred.
  • Interpersonal skills must be well-developed.
