About the position

The Medical Front Desk Receptionist at American Family Care in Tigard, OR, is a vital role that serves as the first point of contact for patients visiting the clinic. The receptionist is responsible for managing the check-in and registration process, ensuring that patients feel welcomed and informed about their insurance coverage. The role requires a blend of administrative skills and medical knowledge, as the receptionist will need to navigate electronic medical records (EMR) and verify insurance details accurately. In this full-time position, the Medical Front Desk Receptionist will work approximately 40 hours per week, with set schedules from Wednesday to Saturday. The hours include Wednesday from 1 PM to 8 PM, Thursday and Friday from 8 AM to 8 PM, and Saturday from 9 AM to 6 PM. Additionally, the role requires one on-call shift per month, which may involve travel to various clinic locations. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, demonstrating the ability to multitask effectively while maintaining a calm demeanor. The Medical Front Desk Receptionist will also be involved in various essential functions, including greeting patients, managing patient registration, collecting payments, and ensuring the cleanliness of the work environment. Responsibilities

  • Greet and acknowledge patients with a warm and friendly demeanor.
  • Provide appropriate forms upon check-in and complete patient registration in EMR.
  • Electronically verify insurance and accurately review coverage to collect necessary payment due at the time of service.
  • Check out patients by collecting, organizing, and scanning medical records into charts as needed and providing copies to the patient.
  • Answer calls and resolve needs or direct them to the appropriate department.
  • Oversee incoming emails and faxes to the clinic and take corrective action to complete each request.
  • Responsible for the setup and close-out of the cash drawer.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment including proper disinfecting of the lobby area between patients.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Clinic Manager.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of customer service in person-to-person work environments, preferred.
  • 1+ years experience with medical administrative duties preferred.
  • Computer skills/literacy, required.
  • Medical terminology knowledge is strongly preferred.
