About the position

We are seeking a dedicated and organized Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service while managing front office operations in a fast-paced medical environment. This role is crucial in ensuring smooth patient flow and maintaining accurate medical records, contributing to the overall efficiency of our dental clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments, ensuring optimal use of time slots.
  • Manage incoming calls, addressing inquiries and directing them to appropriate staff members.
  • Collect and verify patient information, including insurance details and medical history.
  • Maintain organized medical records and ensure compliance with health information management standards.
  • Process patient registrations and update records as necessary.
  • Assist with billing inquiries and coordinate with insurance providers, including Medicare.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to facilitate patient care and administrative support.
  • Uphold confidentiality standards in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Requirements

  • Proficient in medical terminology and understanding of health information management practices.
  • Strong customer service skills with a focus on patient service excellence.
  • Experience working in an office setting, preferably within a dental clinic or healthcare environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients and staff.
  • Familiarity with medical administrative support functions, including scheduling software and electronic health records (EHR).
  • Knowledge of Medicare processes is a plus but not required.
