About the position

One Medical is a primary care solution that is challenging the industry status quo by making quality care more affordable, accessible, and enjoyable. As a Medical Receptionist, also known as a Member Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the patient experience, particularly for our Senior Health member population (age 65+). Your primary responsibility will be to serve as an ambassador for patients in the office, ensuring that their experience is exceptional from the moment they walk in. You will be tasked with removing barriers to care and creating a welcoming environment that reflects the One Medical brand. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for patient feedback and will provide support as requested by the Leads, Office Manager, or in-office providers. You will need to demonstrate strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and possess a mastery of human connection to effectively engage with patients and teammates. Your innovative problem-solving skills will be essential as you tackle various tasks and challenges that arise in a busy medical office. You will also be responsible for maintaining the look and feel of the office lobby, ensuring it aligns with the One Medical experience. Your daily tasks will include using the C-I-CARE framework to ensure positive patient interactions, managing patient intake and scheduling, verifying insurance, and assisting with administrative tasks such as answering phone calls and coordinating transportation for patients. You will also contribute to team development through participation in team huddles and problem-solving sessions. Mastery of our technology suite, including Slack, G-suite, Zoom, and our Electronic Medical Record System, will be necessary to complete your daily work efficiently. This position is full-time and requires you to work in-person at our Tucson, AZ office, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a welcoming and positive experience.
  • Utilize the C-I-CARE framework in all patient interactions to enhance communication and service.
  • Manage patient intake, same-day scheduling, and follow-up appointments effectively.
  • Perform front-of-house duties including check-in/check-out, insurance verification, and paperwork tasks.
  • Assist senior patients with administrative tasks such as answering phone calls and coordinating transportation.
  • Contribute to team development through participation in team huddles and problem-solving sessions.
  • Maintain the look and feel of the office lobby and ensure it aligns with the One Medical brand.
  • Master technology tools including Slack, G-suite, Zoom, and Electronic Medical Record System for daily operations.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience in high-touch customer or patient-facing roles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in collaborative, diverse, and feedback-driven teams.
  • Ability to persist through change and demonstrate a forward-thinking perspective under pressure.
  • Proficiency in computer technology, including typing and navigating multiple software systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting or medical office environment.
  • Familiarity with billing and insurance processes.
  • Knowledge of patient monitoring and assessment techniques.
