About the position

Marathon Health is seeking a dedicated Medical Receptionist to provide essential administrative support in our on-site medical clinics. This role is pivotal in ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for patients and visitors. As a Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for patients, greeting them in person or over the phone, and addressing their inquiries with professionalism and care. Your responsibilities will include optimizing patient satisfaction by efficiently scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and ensuring that treatment rooms are utilized effectively. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the schedule by notifying providers of patient arrivals and service delays, thereby enhancing the overall patient experience. In addition to patient interaction, you will be responsible for maintaining patient records and accounts. This includes obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information, as well as ensuring that treatment information is readily available for providers. You may also assist with administrative tasks such as completing prior authorization paperwork for insurance and managing communications for referrals. Keeping the front reception area clean and professional is also part of your duties, along with assisting Medical Assistants with electronic medical record (EMR) data entry and maintaining confidentiality of patient information. This position requires a high school diploma or GED, along with 1-3 years of relevant experience in a medical office environment. An associate degree in healthcare or a related field is preferred. Proficiency in electronic medical record systems, particularly ECW, is strongly preferred. The pay range for this position is between $18.00 and $21.00 per hour, depending on geographic location and the candidate's experience and skill level. Responsibilities

  • Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering and/or referring inquiries.
  • Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.
  • Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient's arrival; reviewing service delivery compared to schedule; reminding provider of service delays.
  • Comforts patients by anticipating patients' anxieties and answering questions.
  • Ensures availability of treatment information for the provider by filing and retrieving patient records.
  • Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
  • Completes prior authorization paperwork for insurance, fax communications for referrals, or performs similar administrative duties.
  • Maintains a clean and professional front reception area; responsible for stocking and re-stocking office equipment and managing deliveries.
  • Assists Medical Assistants with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) data entry by entering patient information and other information as required.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patients and their records.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • 1-3 years of related professional experience in a medical office environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Associate degree in healthcare or a related field preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of an electronic medical record system; prior experience with ECW strongly preferred.
