About the position

American Behavioral Clinics is a busy, growing mental health service provider with offices located in Mequon, Greenfield, Milwaukee, Oak Creek, and Elm Grove. Despite the recent COVID-19 situation, our offices have immediate openings for a full-time Medical Receptionist position. The ideal candidate will be able to work 8-hour shifts between 7 AM and 6:30 PM, with hours based on clinic needs. This role requires reliable transportation as the candidate may need to travel to various locations to cover on an as-needed basis. We are looking for someone with prior medical office experience, preferably in a mental health setting, who can thrive in a fast-paced environment and possesses strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Virtual interviews are offered for this position. As a Medical Receptionist, you will interact with all levels of treatment by providing clerical support and patient care support. Your responsibilities will include greeting clients and visitors as the front desk receptionist/patient care representative, answering all incoming phone calls, and logging messages efficiently. You will handle phone inquiries regarding provider services and obtain and record referral information by phone while verifying insurance eligibility and authorizations. Additionally, you will be responsible for documenting regularly, thoroughly, accurately, and completely, as well as printing, distributing, verifying, tracking, and faxing various medical information. Maintaining an ample stock of forms and documents used in client charting and ensuring organization and efficiency in internal office functions will also be part of your duties. You will need to effectively present information and exercise courtesy and tact in dealing with staff and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Prints, distributes, verifies, tracks, and faxes various medical information.
  • Receives, distributes, and/or answers external inquiries.
  • Maintains ample stock of forms and documents used in client charting.
  • Ensures organization and efficiency in internal office functions.
  • Effectively presents information and exercises courtesy and tact in dealing with staff and the public.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of medical office experience, preferably in a mental health setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong computer literacy and skills in using office equipment such as fax machines, scanners, and copiers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • High level of detail and accuracy in work.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a positive and enthusiastic disposition.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with multi-line phone systems.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
