About the position

As a Medical Receptionist at American Family Care, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients visiting the medical front office. Your primary responsibilities will include greeting and registering patients, collecting payments, discharging patients, and maintaining accurate medical records. This role is crucial in ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for patients as they navigate their healthcare needs. You will be expected to provide exceptional customer service, answering phone calls and addressing patient inquiries in a friendly and helpful manner. In addition to greeting patients, you will be responsible for providing initial paperwork, obtaining copies of insurance and identification cards, and accurately registering patients while updating their records. It is essential to verify insurance information in a timely manner and follow company procedures related to workers' compensation and occupational medicine patients. You will also determine, collect, and process patient payments, addressing any collection and billing issues that may arise. Discharging patients accurately and timely is another critical aspect of your role, which includes collecting any outstanding balances, providing necessary patient documentation, and following established discharge procedures. You will assist patients with scheduling follow-up appointments and fulfilling requests for medical documentation. Additionally, balancing daily patient charges against system reports will be part of your daily responsibilities, ensuring that all transactions are accounted for and discrepancies are addressed promptly.

  • Assist patients with follow-up appointments, and fulfill medical documentation requests
  • Balance daily patient charges (cash, check, credit cards) against system reports

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Previous medical office experience preferred
