About the position

The Patient Service Representative (PSR) at CityMD plays a crucial role in ensuring that patients receive exemplary customer service from the moment they arrive. This position is responsible for welcoming patients, registering them, and coordinating with the healthcare team to ensure a smooth and timely experience. The PSR must respond to patient inquiries with urgency and kindness, whether in person or over the phone, and handle all paperwork associated with patient registration efficiently. In addition to greeting and welcoming patients, the PSR organizes and coordinates patient intake and appointments, ensuring that all patient information is accurately entered and updated in the system. This role also involves assisting patients with completing necessary paperwork, scanning, updating, and filing medical records, and answering phone calls and questions promptly and politely. The PSR is responsible for processing medical insurance information, verifying patient eligibility, and addressing any questions patients may have about their insurance, often liaising with the billing department as needed. Handling cash and co-payments accurately is also a key responsibility, along with providing outstanding customer service to every patient. The PSR must keep the site manager or assistant site manager informed about waiting room times and patient inquiries to maintain a smooth operation.

  • Handling cash and co-payments accurately and responsibly
  • Providing outstanding customer service to every patient
  • Informing site manager or assistant site manager of waiting room wait times and patient inquiries

Requirements

  • Bilingual language skills required or preferred based on site location
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Medical office experience
  • Computer proficiency and superior keyboarding skills (approximately 55 wpm)
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and a team player
  • Flexible/adaptable nature to work in a continuously evolving environment
  • Passion for helping others in a healthcare environment
  • Ability to effectively interact with physicians, patients, and other staff members

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in any high-volume/high-intensity service industry (e.g., hospitality, restaurant, hospital, medical office, or retail environment)
