About the position

We are a busy ophthalmology practice located in Southfield, MI, looking for a dedicated Medical Receptionist to join our team. This full-time position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you will be responsible for both front and back desk office and reception duties. The ideal candidate will possess a service-minded attitude, a friendly personality, and the ability to manage the daily tasks that come with a busy medical practice. As a float receptionist, you will be required to work across our three locations in Livonia, Dearborn, and Southfield. This role is essential in ensuring that our patients receive the best possible service and support during their visits. You will be expected to handle various administrative tasks, including scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and assisting with billing inquiries. The position requires a commitment to maintaining a professional demeanor while interacting with patients and staff alike. This is a full-time position with an expected work schedule of 32 to 40 hours per week, primarily during the day shift from Monday to Friday. There are no weekend shifts required, allowing for a balanced work-life schedule. The pay starts at $15.00 per hour, with potential increases based on skills and qualifications. Responsibilities

  • Manage front desk operations including greeting patients and answering phone calls.
  • Schedule appointments and manage the calendar for multiple physicians.
  • Assist with patient check-in and check-out processes.
  • Maintain patient records and ensure confidentiality of information.
  • Handle billing inquiries and process payments as needed.
  • Provide support for back office tasks as required.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and staff to ensure a smooth workflow.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is preferred.
  • Experience in medical terminology is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new responsibilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in a medical office setting.
  • Familiarity with ophthalmology practices and procedures.
  • Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish, are a plus.
