About the position

As a Medical Receptionist at our facility, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and efficient front office operation. Your primary responsibility will be to greet and register patients in a friendly and service-oriented manner, creating a welcoming environment for all who enter. You will be tasked with obtaining or verifying proper insurance and patient information, collecting necessary signatures, and ensuring that all documentation is accurate and complete. This role requires you to collect and log all co-pays and fees, ensuring that financial transactions are handled with precision and care. In addition to these responsibilities, you will be the first point of contact for incoming phone calls, answering inquiries and transferring calls as needed. Scheduling, rescheduling, or canceling appointments for new or current patients will also be part of your duties, along with confirming appointments and notifying staff of any changes. You will provide patients with appropriate orientation regarding preparatory and safety protocols, and offer directions to facilities when necessary. Coordination with back-office staff will be essential to ensure timely and effective care for patients, making your role integral to the overall patient experience. We are looking for individuals who are genuinely passionate about customer service and can exercise sound judgment in all situations. You should be able to demonstrate effective and professional communication and interpersonal skills, treating patients, guests, and colleagues with respect. Responsibilities

  • Greet and register patients in a friendly and service-oriented manner.
  • Obtain or verify proper insurance and patient information, collect signatures and ensure accuracy and completion of necessary documentation.
  • Collect and log all co-pays and fees.
  • Answer/transfer incoming phone calls.
  • Schedule, reschedule or cancel new or current patients, confirm appointments and notify staff of changes when necessary.
  • Give patients appropriate orientation for preparatory and safety protocols, and provide directions to facilities if needed.
  • Coordinate with the back-office staff for timely and effective care of patients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills
  • Strong multitasking and communication skills
  • Experience providing exceptional customer service
  • Medical terminology knowledge and recent medical/radiology office experience is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a medical or radiology office setting is preferred.
