About the position

We are offering a role for a Medical Receptionist in the bustling town of Newport, Rhode Island. This position falls within the healthcare industry and will be based in a busy medical office. The role is a short-term contract employment opportunity. As a Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for patients, responsible for creating a welcoming environment and ensuring that all administrative tasks are handled efficiently. You will greet patients, schedule appointments, and answer incoming calls in a professional and timely manner. Your role will also involve utilizing various medical software systems for data entry and patient record management, ensuring that all patient information is accurate and up-to-date. In addition to managing patient interactions, you will verify patient insurance details and perform billing functions accurately using Microsoft Excel. Providing exceptional customer service is paramount, as you will need to address all patient inquiries and concerns promptly. Maintaining organization and cleanliness in the front office area is also part of your responsibilities, along with adhering to all privacy and confidentiality policies when handling sensitive patient information. Collaboration with other medical professionals will be essential to ensure seamless patient care, and you may also assist with other administrative tasks as needed within the medical office.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients, schedule appointments, and answer incoming calls in a professional and timely manner
  • Utilize various medical software systems such as Allscripts, EHR SYSTEM, NexGen, and Medisoft for data entry and patient record management
  • Verify patient insurance details and update records as needed
  • Perform billing functions accurately and efficiently using Microsoft Excel
  • Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring all patient inquiries and concerns are addressed promptly
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness in the front office area
  • Adhere to all privacy and confidentiality policies when handling sensitive patient information
  • Collaborate with other medical professionals to ensure seamless patient care
  • Assist with other administrative tasks as needed within the medical office.

Requirements

  • Proficient in the use of EHR SYSTEM and other relevant medical software such as Medisoft
  • Demonstrable skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledgeable about insurance processes, with the ability to verify insurance details
  • Experienced in answering inbound calls and providing customer service
  • Capable of scheduling appointments and managing a medical front office
  • Strong data entry skills
  • Prior experience working in a medical front office is desirable
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to interact with patients and healthcare professionals in a courteous and professional manner.
