About the position
The Medical Record Retrieval Specialist (Risk Adjustment Representative) plays a crucial role in ensuring the accurate collection and scanning of medical records from provider offices into a secure system. This position involves significant travel within North Miami/Dade and South Broward counties, FL, and requires the ability to meet production goals while adhering to confidentiality standards. The role is essential for supporting Humana's coding staff by providing timely and efficient access to medical records.
Responsibilities
- Travel to provider offices within North Miami/Dade and South Broward counties, FL, and surrounding areas.
- Collect medical records using a laptop and portable scanner or download electronic medical records to a thumb drive.
- Visit physician offices in a timely and efficient manner to meet all deadlines.
- Answer phones, electronically fax documents, and utilize internet search and email.
- Research and update site information using CarePlus' internal systems.
- Follow CarePlus and HIPAA confidentiality standards to protect member information.
- Demonstrate a professional and courteous manner when communicating with others.
Requirements
- 1 or more years of experience in a telephonic environment and/or customer service in an office setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
- Ability to travel locally up to 50% of the time.
- Ability to travel overnight occasionally within the region.
- Must have reliable car transportation.
- Working knowledge of computers and ability to quickly learn new systems.
- Valid State Driver's license and proof of personal vehicle liability insurance with at least 100/300/100 limits.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with medical record or health information retrieval in a hospital, healthcare, or medical office setting.
- Knowledge and experience in managed care.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Experience in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, able to speak, read, and write in both languages without limitations.
