About the position

The Bilingual Registered Nurse (RN) position at MMED is a full-time role focused on providing exceptional patient care in a community facility. The RN will be responsible for administering medications, monitoring patient progress, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans. This role requires bilingual proficiency in specific languages to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications, monitor patient progress, and provide pre- and post-operative care.
  • Conduct physical exams, take patient histories, and interpret diagnostic tests.
  • Develop and implement patient care plans, in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and reports.
  • Educate patients and their families on disease prevention, health maintenance, and post-treatment care.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to nursing assistants and other staff.
  • Adhere to safety and infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Act as a patient advocate, ensuring their needs and preferences are considered.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Current RN license in the state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required based on specialty.
  • Clinical experience in a healthcare setting; specialty experience may be preferred.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical equipment.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills; compassionate and patient-centered approach.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in Swahili, Somali, Kinyarwanda, Amharic, Tigrinya, Dari, Pashto, Arabic, Farsi, French, Burmese, Karen, or Rohingya.
  • Experience in primary care or public health settings.
