About the position

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for Gastrointestinal (GI) at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicines is responsible for providing scientific information and education to healthcare professionals and internal partners. This role involves building relationships with opinion leaders, managing a geographical territory, and staying updated on scientific trends in GI products. The MSL will engage in research support, develop strategic plans, and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines while traveling primarily within the assigned territory.

Responsibilities

  • Provide fair balanced, objective scientific information to opinion leaders and healthcare professionals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with identified opinion leaders and healthcare providers.
  • Develop and manage a geographical territory strategic plan.
  • Respond to unsolicited scientific inquiries from healthcare professionals and integrate scientific data into practice.
  • Engage with external investigators regarding unsolicited research inquiries and act as a liaison to R&D and Medical Affairs teams.
  • Provide clinical trial support and participate in site initiation visits and investigator meetings.
  • Actively participate in team calls, trainings, and journal clubs to share scientific news.
  • Attend scientific conferences to gather new scientific information relevant to the company.
  • Document and share medical insights from interactions with healthcare professionals.
  • Perform all administrative requirements in a timely and compliant manner.

Requirements

  • PharmD, PhD, MD, or other advanced medical degree with 2+ years of relevant clinical experience.
  • Ability to support travel up to 60-70%, including overnight travel and some weekend commitments.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Reside within the defined assigned territory.

Nice-to-haves

  • 0-2 years of relevant work experience including clinical, research, fellowship, or pharmaceutical work experience.
  • Knowledge or experience in the relevant therapeutic area and/or Immunology work experience.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and remote technologies.
  • Reside in or near Boston, MA.
