About the position

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based scientific expert responsible for supporting the medical and scientific objectives of Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease's products throughout their life cycle. The MSL communicates scientific information to Healthcare Practitioners (HCPs) and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) within a designated geographic area, fostering professional relationships and collaboration opportunities. This role requires a combination of clinical expertise and business acumen to effectively engage with HCPs and contribute to medical strategies.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain relationships with HCPs and KOLs.
• Evaluate territory to identify key HCPs and centers of excellence.
• Develop and refine HCP engagement plans aligned with medical strategic goals.
• Communicate relevant scientific and medical information to HCPs.
• Gather and disseminate HCP insights to inform medical strategy.
• Support scientific exchange of product and disease state information with external stakeholders.
• Demonstrate understanding of clinical study design and protocols.
• Acquire knowledge of the US healthcare system and its impact on rare diseases.

Requirements

• MD, PharmD, or PhD in biological sciences OR NP or PA degree.
• Clinical experience in a relevant therapeutic area or track record as an MSL.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong personal initiative and ability to achieve goals.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and high-level job competencies.

Nice-to-haves

• Industry experience is preferred but not mandatory; therapeutic area experience is also acceptable.
