About the position
The Medical Screener - Reception Technician is responsible for greeting donors at the plasma collection center and conducting registration procedures to verify donor suitability for the plasma pheresis process. This role involves assisting qualified donors through the screening process, performing health screenings, and ensuring a professional and safe environment for donors.
Responsibilities
- Greet donors and assist them in completing the screening process in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Assess self-administered health history and answer basic medical questions related to the donation process.
- Refer donors to medical staff when appropriate and perform health screening procedures such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, and temperature checks.
- Perform finger stick to obtain samples for hematocrit and total protein levels.
- Educate new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from donated plasma after completing appropriate training.
- Ensure timely and accurate responses to donor questions and maintain confidentiality of all personnel and donor information.
- Record donor data accurately in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in SOPs.
- Maintain a clean and efficient work environment and ensure sufficient operating supplies are available.
- Follow all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures.
- Promote safety in all actions and maintain alertness to any reactions by donors during or after the pheresis process.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of three (3) months experience in a clerical or customer service related position, preferably in a medical or health provider environment.
- Basic math skills required.
