At Heart of America Eye Care, we have an amazing job opportunity for an Ophthalmic Medical Scribe. The primary goal is to increase the efficiency and productivity of the physician in the clinic setting. As a scribe, you must be able to anticipate physician needs, communicate clearly to patients and staff members, and effectively multi-task in order to facilitate clinic flow. The ideal candidate should have previous Medical Scribe experience, preferably in the Ophthalmology field. This position operates on a Monday to Friday schedule, ensuring a work-life balance with no weekends or holidays required. In this role, you will consistently perform proper documentation of case history, confrontation visual fields, pupil evaluation, screening extra-ocular muscle function, visual acuity, assessment of angle depth, instillation of diagnostic pharmaceutical agents, amsler grid, and other functions as directed by the clinical physician. You will be responsible for accurately and thoroughly documenting ophthalmic exams and procedures as they are being performed by the physician, listing all appropriate diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions as directed by the physician. Additionally, you will provide patients and/or family members with instructions for self-care and follow-up as directed by the physician, coordinate patient scheduling, and monitor patient flow throughout the office while properly communicating any delays. You will also obtain eyeglass prescriptions via lensometer and perform patient testing accurately and effectively as directed by the clinical provider(s). If assigned to a retina specialist, you may assist retina physician(s) with intraocular injections as needed. Effective communication of physician instructions to patients and documentation of these interactions is crucial. You will assist the physician with pharmacy calls, patient calls, and ensure that the scheduling template is being followed correctly. At the end of each day, you will ensure all patient lanes are clean and well-stocked, all equipment is turned off and covered properly, and complete tech station duties daily. You will also be responsible for calling in prescriptions, ensuring that all actions are done under the doctor's name when applicable. Maintaining a professional demeanor with a positive enthusiastic attitude when representing the practice is essential. Continuous improvement of skills through certification and training is expected, including attending in-service and webinar training seminars as directed by the Clinical Manager.
