About the position

The Medical Scribe position at Dr. Danny Shouhed's private surgical practice involves assisting a Foregut, Minimally Invasive Surgeon by accurately documenting patient encounters, transcribing medical information, and maintaining electronic health records. This role is essential for ensuring effective communication between the physician and patients, as well as supporting the overall efficiency of the practice.

Responsibilities

• Accompany physician into the patient examination room to transcribe history and physical exams.
• Document accurately the physician's encounter with the patient and others present.
• List all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the physician.
• Transcribe patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, etc.
• Document any procedures performed by the physician.
• Provide feedback about data entry errors and review records for accuracy before submission to the doctor.
• Maintain professional appearance and conduct at all times.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and management.
• Document work processes as required.
• Assist in abstracting and scanning paper records into the electronic record.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months experience as a Medical Scribe or related training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficient in EHR (Electronic Health Record) and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in English.

Nice-to-haves

• 1 year experience with medical terminology (Preferred)
