Medical Scribe

About the position

The Medical Scribe at CityMD is responsible for accurately documenting patient visits into the electronic medical record (EMR) system, assisting physicians with basic patient care and medical procedures, and ensuring compliance with health regulations. This role is crucial in providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced urgent care environment, while also managing patient flow and maintaining a professional atmosphere.

Responsibilities

• Capture accurate and detailed documentation of patient visits into the EMR in a timely manner.
• Assist the physician with basic patient care and medical procedures.
• Assist site managers with directing patient flow, inventory, and following up on labs.
• Ensure site lab compliance with Department of Health (DOH) Regulations.
• Provide unparalleled customer service to patients, adhering to established protocols and work processes.
• Manage a minimum of two patients per hour on average and three to four patients per hour during surge periods.
• Facilitate necessary diagnostic tests and referrals to medical specialists for follow-up care.
• Communicate with patients, pharmacies, and physicians over the phone under physician guidance.
• Maintain a clean, courteous, and professional working environment.
• Ensure the site is fully stocked with supplies.

Requirements

• High School Degree or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program and/or phlebotomy certifications preferred but not required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Computer proficiency and strong aptitude for detail.

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual language skills preferred based on site location.
• Knowledge of third-party payor requirements preferred.
• Experience in urgent care or medical assisting is a plus.
