About the position

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Scribe to join our team. The Medical Scribe is responsible for accurately documenting medical information in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring that medical records are complete, accurate, and compliant with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology and a keen interest in the healthcare field. As a Medical Scribe, you will be tasked with transcribing medical information from dictation or electronic recordings, including patient histories, diagnoses, treatments, and test results. You will maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations in the handling and storage of patient medical records. Your role will also involve organizing and updating medical records in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring that all information is complete and accurate. Collaboration with healthcare professionals will be essential to ensure that medical records are accurate and up-to-date. Familiarity with medical office systems and software, including electronic medical records (EMRs) and practice management software, is crucial. You will review and verify medical documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness, and stay current with medical terminology and anatomy knowledge to ensure that documentation is accurate and compliant with regulatory requirements. Additionally, you may perform other administrative tasks as needed, including filing and data entry.

Responsibilities

  • Familiarize yourself with medical office systems and software, including electronic medical records (EMRs) and practice management software.
  • Review and verify medical documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Stay current with medical terminology and anatomy knowledge to ensure that documentation is accurate and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other administrative tasks as needed, including filing and data entry.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and anatomy knowledge.
  • Experience with medical records and medical documentation.
  • Strong typing skills and ability to transcribe quickly and accurately, at least 50 WPM.
  • Familiarity with medical office systems and software, ECW knowledge is required.
  • Knowledge of ER medical procedures and protocols.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • A strong understanding of physiology and a keen interest in the healthcare field.
