About the position

Illinois CancerCare is seeking Medical Office Assistant - Physician Desk, also known as 'Desk MOA', and 'Medical Services Coordinator' to work full-time at the Peoria clinic. This position is responsible for assisting providers and nursing staff in clerical duties related to patient care.

Responsibilities

• Complete, process and verify for accuracy any forms, letters or other patient-initiated documents in accordance with established procedures.
• Create and send patient correspondence as needed including distribution of sympathy cards to patients as needed.
• Order, consent, track and scan results for Foundation Medicine & Molecular testing.
• Maintain files and records in a confidential manner and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
• Answer telephones, receive and send faxes, record messages in the EMR and provide routine information to RN and providers as needed.
• Assist RN staff in addressing QCLs and gathering information as needed.
• Coordinate referrals with external facilities (i.e. blood transfusions, hydrations, oxygen, hospice, home health, patient supplies and medical equipment).
• Scan, organize and provide paperwork for Medical Marijuana to providers.
• Assist in administrative functions as directed by RN or provider.
• Perform all other duties as requested.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Three (3) years of experience in a clinical medical office.

Nice-to-haves

• Certified Medical Assistant 'CMA' or Certified Nurse's Assistant 'CNA' preferred.
