About the position
The Medical Support Assistant (OA) position at the Lyster Army Medical Center in Fort Novosel, AL, is responsible for providing administrative support to the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF). This role involves managing patient appointments, processing requests, and serving as the initial point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring efficient communication and service delivery within the healthcare setting.
Responsibilities
- Complete request forms for individual patient orders, blood work, and other requests.
- Provide information regarding clinic and hospital policies, procedures, and locations to patients and staff.
- Receive patients and visitors as the initial point of contact, both in person and over the phone.
- Monitor and communicate delays in scheduled appointments to staff and patients.
- Maintain and monitor patient appointment schedules for the clinic/practice.
Requirements
- One year of specialized experience in utilizing automated healthcare systems to manage patient appointments and data.
- Completion of request forms for patient orders and blood work.
- Proficiency in automated office software for creating reports and correspondence.
- Education: Four years of education above high school level in an accredited institution, or a combination of education and experience.
