About the position

The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services plays a crucial role in supporting plasma center operations by ensuring donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, and reviewing laboratory test results. This position requires a commitment to customer service and quality, working under the guidance of the Plasma Center Manager and the Center Physician. The role involves following industry regulations and providing support for environmental, health, and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Determine donor eligibility including informed consent and medical history interview.
  • Manage donor adverse events and evaluate donor reactions as per SOPs.
  • Review laboratory test results and notify donors of unsuitable test results.
  • Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
  • Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation needs by occupational health/ER.
  • Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, including a recognized educational nursing program.
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state as LPN or LVN.
  • Current CPR and AED certification.
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
  • Complete FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
  • Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
