About the position

DispatchHealth is actively hiring Medical Technicians to join our growing clinical team servicing the Kansas City, KS area. We are looking for energetic, hard-working individuals with strong organizational and customer service skills to work directly with our Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants in our CLIA certified (mobile) laboratory. This individual will be directly involved in daily patient care while gaining valuable experience on an ongoing basis. Extensive on-the-job training will be provided for this exciting opportunity in mobile healthcare. Current EMT certification is required as a hiring credential for this position in DispatchHealth as a medical practice (non-Emergency Medical Services) organization delivering care in patient homes. The ideal candidate will have either EMT-B, EMT-A, or Certified Medical Assistant certifications. The position requires working under the supervision of licensed NP/PA providers, performing patient assessments and monitoring, vital signs, IV starts, and blood draws (as permitted by state law). Additionally, responsibilities include splint application, wound care, and working directly with point-of-care laboratory equipment including operation, calibration, and maintenance. The Medical Technician will also perform EKGs, assist NP/PAs in the daily functions of a mobile care delivery emergency unit, and handle documentation and supply stocking. Responsibilities

  • Work under supervision of licensed NP/PA providers
  • Perform patient assessment and monitoring, including vital signs
  • Start IVs and perform blood draws as permitted by state law
  • Apply splints and provide wound care
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain point of care laboratory equipment
  • Perform EKGs
  • Assist NP/PAs in the daily functions of a mobile care delivery emergency unit
  • Document patient care and supply stocking

Requirements

  • Current EMT certification (EMT-B, EMT-A)
  • Basic Certification with KS, EMT License (hiring credential only)
  • BLS Certification from American Heart Association
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to walk up and down several flights of stairs easily
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • 2 years of experience in chemistry and hematology, especially with experience using an i-STAT device (preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree in a core science or lab science (preferred)
