About the position

The position involves performing a variety of routine and special diagnostic procedures on clinical specimens to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. The role requires conducting high complexity testing, validating and reporting test results, and ensuring quality control. Additionally, the position includes maintaining instruments and equipment, managing supplies, and participating in continuing education.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and special diagnostic procedures on clinical specimens.
  • Conduct high complexity testing according to established procedures.
  • Validate and report results of tests performed.
  • Perform and document Quality Control.
  • Maintain instruments and equipment according to policy and procedures.
  • Ensure adequate stock of reagents and supplies.
  • Participate in continuing education.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Medical Technology or related science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) or Certificate of Completion of a Medical Technology Training program.
  • Associate Degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science or related science with ASCP Certification as Medical Technologist MT(ASCP).
  • Above Average Verbal Communication Skills (Heavy Public Contact).
  • Writing/Composing skills for correspondence and reports.
  • Analytical skills and knowledge of medical terms.
  • Research and statistical skills.
  • Proficiency in PC, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Access.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification by approved certification agencies, i.e., ASCP, NCA, AMT is preferred.
