About the position

The Medical Technologist I position at Labcorp offers an exciting opportunity for recent graduates to join the Clinical Pathology Services team in Greenfield, Indiana. This role involves performing established procedures for non-clinical testing across various laboratory disciplines, analyzing specimens, and ensuring accurate reporting of results to pharmaceutical companies. The position supports advances in animal welfare and drug development, contributing to the creation of life-saving vaccines and medicines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned clinical laboratory testing accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Retrieve and check specimens against pending list, documenting and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Prepare workstation and instrumentation for assigned testing.
  • Receive, open, and place in service all reagents according to SOPs.
  • Prepare and properly label reagents and document according to SOPs.
  • Operate instruments to perform testing in accordance with established written procedures.
  • Resolve routine and non-routine assay problems.
  • Perform parallel testing, reagent validation, linearity, and stability studies.
  • Process and ship samples according to study-specific instructions.
  • Evaluate and solve problems related to the collection and processing of specimens.
  • Ensure the validity of test results through established quality control procedures.
  • Prepare quality control material accurately and document results.
  • Report quality control results to management and take corrective action on out-of-limit results.
  • Document and report any result reporting problems or inconsistencies to laboratory management.
  • Complete testing within expected turnaround time to meet customer expectations.
  • Perform maintenance on instruments and equipment, documenting as required.
  • Calibrate instruments/assays as required and document.
  • Comply with regulatory guidelines and SOPs at all times.
  • Participate in proficiency testing and maintain a record of ongoing competency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and completion of at least a 12-month training program in Medical Technology, or a Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science with one year of training and/or experience in the specialty testing area.
  • Ability to perform basic computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, LIS).
  • One year of experience working in the Medical Technology field.
