About the position

The position is for a Medical Technologist at Holy Cross Health, a Catholic, not-for-profit health system located in Silver Spring. The role involves performing routine and specialized laboratory procedures, reviewing and approving clinical test results that are crucial for the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This position operates within a high-complexity laboratory environment, adhering to the standards set by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988. The Medical Technologist will support the mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital by ensuring accurate and timely laboratory results, which are essential for patient care. The work schedule is primarily during the day shift, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the expectation of working every other weekend and holidays. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Medical Technologist will be expected to collaborate effectively with laboratory personnel to foster a team-driven customer service environment. The role requires a strong foundation in laboratory methodologies, quality assurance, and proficiency in operating at least three different laboratory instrument platforms. Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and specialized laboratory procedures.
  • Review and approve clinical test results for diagnosis and treatment of patients.
  • Ensure compliance with established protocols for high complexity procedures.
  • Support the mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital.
  • Collaborate with laboratory personnel to enhance customer service.
  • Maintain proficiency in at least three laboratory instrument platforms.
  • Conduct auxiliary functions such as purchasing, inventory management, and statistical analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology, biological, chemical or related science; or a baccalaureate degree with relevant coursework and completion of a NAACLS accredited Medical Technologist program.
  • Greater than five (5) years of verifiable experience in a Clinical Laboratory Setting.
  • Documented ASCP, AMT, or NCA certification as a Medical Technologist.
  • General knowledge of laboratory methodologies and quality assurance practices.
  • Proficient in operating at least three laboratory instrument platforms.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with personnel to build a team-driven customer service environment.
  • Demonstrates basic computer literacy and command of oral and written English.
