About the position

The Medical Technologist in the Toxicology Laboratory at The Ohio State University will perform routine and specialized testing of both moderate and high complexity toxicology and chemistry tests. This role requires technical expertise, specimen processing, clerical duties, and maintenance of laboratory equipment. The technologist will also serve as a customer service representative for the laboratory, ensuring effective communication with clients and staff. The position operates under the direction of the Lead Technologist and laboratory management, contributing to the overall efficiency and accuracy of laboratory operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized testing of toxicology and chemistry tests.
• Demonstrate technical expertise necessary for the area.
• Process specimens and perform clerical duties.
• Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Act as a customer service representative for the laboratory, both on the phone and in person.
• Assume primary responsibility for specific testing areas as assigned.
• Proficiently use the laboratory information system for processing samples.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Biological Science.
• American Society of Clinical Pathology Certification in Medical Technologist or Medical Lab Scientist within 1 year of hire.
• 0-2 years of relevant experience preferred.
