About the position

The position involves independently performing laboratory procedures for which the technologist has been trained and demonstrated competency. The technologist will conduct laboratory testing on patients of all ages, utilizing professional knowledge of laboratory procedures to execute, interpret, and analyze results in an accurate and timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct laboratory testing on patients of all ages.
  • Execute, interpret, and analyze laboratory results accurately and timely.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Sufficient college and/or technical school courses and clinical training to satisfy the requirements for testing and certification as a medical technologist by an approved certifying agency.
  • Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by ASCP, AMT, or AAB according to Georgia regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology, or in a life/biological science preferred.
  • One year of supervised clinical experience as a medical technologist in a clinical setting preferred.
  • Competency in areas of the laboratory including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, blood bank, and microbiology preferred.
