Medical Technologist/MLT

About the position

As a Medical Lab Tech at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, you'll play a vital role in doing what you do best- providing quality care to our patients. The Medical Technologist must promote good public relations for the department and Poplar Bluff RMC while maintaining patient/customer confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Performs manual and automated routine blood tests.
• Prepares specimens for microscope examination.
• Operates laboratory equipment including centrifuges, dry bath incubators, and blood bank refrigerators.
• Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Performs a variety of tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited MT/MLT program and passing a national exam given by the Board of Registry of the American Society for Clinical Pathology, American Medical Technology, or HEW.
• Associates or Bachelors degree in Medical Laboratory Science required.
• 1-5 years experience in field or related area.
• ASCP preferred.
• Able to meet sensory requirements of the job.
• Capable of performing all laboratory tests and related calculations.
• Able to participate in laboratory Quality Assurance Program.
• Attention to detail and concentration.
• Ability to work in fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
