The Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Lab Technician (MLT) position at Mayo Clinic focuses on the accurate performance and reporting of laboratory testing procedures on blood and body fluids. This role is essential for the diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients, requiring knowledge of patient growth and development across the lifespan. The position emphasizes the importance of assessing and interpreting data reflective of the patient's status, tailored to their age-specific needs.
Responsibilities
- Perform and report laboratory testing procedures on blood and body fluids accurately.
- Contribute to the diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients through laboratory testing.
- Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan.
- Assess and interpret data reflective of the patient's status according to age-specific needs.
Requirements
- For MT: Bachelor's degree in a health-related field required.
- For MLT: Associate degree required; recent graduates from approved MLT schools are eligible.
- Two to four years of experience as a medical laboratory technician preferred.
- Certification from AMT or ASCP in Medical Technology, Med Lab Science, or a related specialty required upon hire, or within 18 months of hire.
- Strong organizational skills and problem-solving capabilities required.
- Good computer skills preferred.
