About the position

The Medical Technologist in Point of Care Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and monitoring all point of care (POC) laboratory test sites within the hospital or ambulatory settings. This role involves coordinating POC testing, ensuring compliance with clinical laboratory improvement amendments (CLIA) licensure, and developing training programs for staff. The position requires effective communication and training of non-laboratory personnel, including physicians and nurses, while traveling to various testing sites.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee regulatory compliance and monitoring of all point of care laboratory test sites.
  • Coordinate all POC testing and ensure CLIA licensure compliance.
  • Develop training and competency programs for personnel performing POC testing.
  • Provide ongoing technical guidance and feedback in laboratory medicine areas.
  • Communicate effectively with and train non-laboratory staff, including physicians, nurses, and medical assistants.
  • Travel to multiple testing sites within hospital or ambulatory settings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in laboratory medical technology or a related life science from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of an accredited MT program.
  • Four years of related laboratory work experience.
  • National MT certification with ASCP, AMT, or Certification with the US Department of Health and Human Services as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
  • MLT certification with a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
