About the position

HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood is seeking a Medical Technologist PRN to join their team. This role involves performing manual and automated test procedures, accurately reporting laboratory results, and ensuring the operational status of automated equipment. The Medical Technologist will also participate in quality control, evaluate new procedures, and assist in training and education opportunities. The position requires a commitment to providing outstanding service to patients and maintaining compliance with hospital policies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform manual and automated test procedures and accurately report laboratory results.
  • Conduct quality control and ensure results are within acceptable limits.
  • Perform maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of automated equipment.
  • Assist in the evaluation of new procedures and equipment.
  • Participate in continuing education and training opportunities.
  • Provide care based on physical, psychological, educational, safety, and related criteria for various patient populations.
  • Maintain awareness of own limitations and seek guidance as needed.
  • Demonstrate understanding of patient rights and ethical concerns.

Requirements

  • One year experience in a clinical laboratory.
  • MT (ASCP) or equivalent preferred or Registry eligible as a Medical Technologist.
  • Associate degree in a chemical or biological science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, or equivalent laboratory training and experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in medical technology or related area of specialty preferred.
