Responsibilities

  • Perform a broad range of laboratory procedures including advanced and complex testing.
  • Analyze and correct problems using scientific principles.
  • Evaluate and solve problems related to collection and processing of biological specimens.
  • Maintain and document the optimal functioning of laboratory equipment.
  • Calibrate, identify malfunctions, repair, and perform preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Perform and document quality control and assurance activities related to test performance.
  • Adhere to practices and regulations governing biosafety and biosecurity in the workplace.
  • Interpret test results and suggest follow-up tests or procedures.
  • Evaluate and implement new techniques and procedures in the laboratory.
  • Incorporate principles of educational methodology in training new employees and students.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) from recognized agencies.
  • A bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science or a related field, along with completion of a medical technology clinical practice program.
  • Two years of post-certification clinical laboratory experience or five years of clinical laboratory experience in relevant fields.

  • Experience with laboratory quality control and assurance procedures.
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare team members.
