About the position
The Medicare Billing Specialist at Fellowship Village will play a crucial role in supporting three senior living communities across New Jersey by managing Medicare billing processes. This position requires expertise in healthcare billing, particularly with Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) billing, to ensure accurate billing and payment processing. The specialist will collaborate with various departments to maintain efficient workflows and ensure compliance with billing regulations.
Responsibilities
- Manage accounts receivable billing and collection of payments for all designated payers and locations.
- Monitor Medicare Part A and B, Hospice, and Outpatient Part B billing to ensure timely filing of claims.
- Focus on A/R aging and involve supervisors or nursing home staff for accounts requiring further attention.
- Determine if Medicare is the primary or secondary payer for claims.
- Monitor claim status and follow up on unpaid or rejected claims.
- Ensure accuracy of medical codes and information.
- Understand and utilize the Fiscal Intermediary Standard System (FISS) for claims management.
Requirements
- Knowledge of Medicare and/or insurance reimbursement systems, including billing forms and requirements for various third-party payers.
- Long-term care billing experience is preferred.
- Two or more years of Accounts Receivable experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and experienced in accounting software.
- Familiarity with PointClickCare, Inovalon, and MatrixCare is a plus.
- Knowledge of regulations affecting skilled nursing facility business offices.
- Working knowledge of infusion CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and coding systems (ICD-9, ICD-10) is essential.
