The Medication Aide position at Sycamorespring Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Miamisburg, OH, involves assisting with the administration of medications and treatments to Assisted Living residents under the supervision of nursing staff and the attending physician. This role is crucial for ensuring the safe and accurate delivery of medications while maintaining compliance with facility policies and state regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with administering medications and treatments to residents as ordered by the attending physician.
  • Report any medication errors, clinical issues, or resident needs to the charge nurse or nurse manager.
  • Participate in developing and implementing procedures to prevent medication errors.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including documentation and form submission.
  • Maintain a collaborative working relationship with nursing staff, physicians, and pharmacists.
  • Attend and participate in care plan meetings as necessary.
  • Accurately prepare, administer, and document various forms of medications as prescribed.
  • Measure, record, and report vital signs of residents.
  • Verify the identity of patients receiving medication.
  • Follow facility procedures for medication documentation and storage.
  • Assist in the destruction of medications as per facility policies.
  • Order medications and manage discharge medications in compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly medication room and cart.

Requirements

  • Valid Certified Medication Aide certification required.
  • Active State Tested Nursing Assistant certification in Ohio.
  • Experience in care plans is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a skilled nursing or rehabilitation setting.
  • Knowledge of medication administration procedures.
