Medication Aide

About the position

Bladen East Health and Rehabilitation is seeking a full-time Medication Technician for their Assisted Living Facility. The role involves administering prescribed medications to patients, maintaining medical records, and providing direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse. The position requires a valid Medication Technician certification and offers a comprehensive benefits package along with competitive salaries.

Responsibilities

• Administers prescribed medications to patients and maintains related medical records under the supervision of a nurse.
• Verifies the identity of the patient receiving medication and records the name of the drug, dosage, and time of administration on specified forms or records.
• Presents medication to the patient and observes ingestion or other application, or administers medication using specified procedures.
• Takes vital signs or observes the patient to detect response to specified types of medications and prepares reports or notifies designated personnel of unexpected reactions.
• Documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered.
• Provides direct patient care, such as bathing, dressing, and feeding patients, and assisting in examinations and treatments.
• May receive a supply of ordered medications and apportion, mix, or assemble drugs for administration to the patient.
• May record and restock medication inventories.

Requirements

• Must have a current Medication Technician certification through the NC Adult Care Medication Aide Testing.
• Experience in taking vital signs is preferred.
