About the position

The Good Samaritan Society is seeking a compassionate and adaptable Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to join their team as a local traveler. This role involves providing care across multiple locations within a 150-mile radius, ensuring quality support for residents' physical and psychological needs. The position offers competitive pay, mileage reimbursement, and flexibility without a contract requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of residents as per the plan of care.
  • Assist with daily living activities including bathing, toileting, grooming, and dressing.
  • Obtain and record vital signs and provide psycho-social support to assigned residents.
  • Assist residents in transferring, re-positioning, and walking using appropriate techniques and equipment.
  • Complete tasks related to food preparation and dining, ensuring a positive dining experience for residents.
  • Administer prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse and document outcomes related to resident care.
  • Communicate changes in condition and medication follow-up to the charge nurse.
  • Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs.
  • Provide housekeeping and laundry services to maintain clean living areas for residents.
  • Encourage residents to participate in wellness and recreational programs.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum age of 18 preferred.
  • Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
  • Completion of yearly department-specific competency testing and maintenance of continuing education credits.
  • Valid driver's license and auto insurance may be required depending on location.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required in North Dakota and Iowa, with maintenance of certification.
  • Successful completion of a state-approved Certified Medication Aide/Assistant course after obtaining CNA certification.
