About the position

The Medication Room Assistant (MRA) at Wexford Health is responsible for managing the medication storage and distribution areas within the Lincoln Correctional Center. This full-time position involves assisting in the procurement of medications, maintaining inventory, and ensuring the security of all medications. The MRA plays a crucial role in supporting the healthcare needs of incarcerated patients by facilitating the timely delivery of medications and maintaining accurate records under the supervision of healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

• Organize the medication storage and distribution areas.
• Assist in the procurement of ordered medications from an off-site pharmacy.
• Help in the return of unused medications.
• Maintain medication room records and inventory.
• Ensure the security of all medications and supplies.
• Process supply requests efficiently.
• Confirm receipt of ordered medications.
• Log outgoing medications.
• Assist with the delivery of medications as determined by site administration.
• Fax/scan patient prescriptions to the offsite pharmacy in a timely manner.
• Communicate with offsite Pharmacy staff to confirm prescriptions/orders are received and legible.
• Refer medication orders needing clarification to a nurse, physician, or P.A.
• Perform medication expiration checks as per policy.
• Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

• Current CPR Certification from an accepted provider (American Red Cross, American Heart Association, American Safety and Health Institute).
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

• 1 year of correctional health care or hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and effective communication abilities.
