About the position

As the Plant Controller for the Medina, NY facility, you will take on the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the plant's end-to-end supply chain. This position is critical in overseeing the financial health of the plant, which includes managing an annual budget of $76 million in production, $0.4 million in capital expenditures, and $29 million in inventory. You will report directly to the MPT UCAN Group Controller and indirectly to the Plant Leader, making you a key member of the Plant Senior Leadership Team (SLT). Your work will directly impact the financial performance and operational efficiency of the plant, which employs 213 direct and 79 indirect employees. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with GAAP, SOX, and Baxter's internal policies, maintaining the integrity of the plant's financial records, including the Profit and Loss statement and Balance Sheet. You will provide timely and relevant communication regarding financial performance, which includes overseeing month-end closings, submitting weekly financial pulses, and preparing quarterly forecasts and budgets, including long-range plans. Your analytical skills will be essential in identifying trends and opportunities for continuous improvement, both financially and operationally. You will also be tasked with developing and executing action plans aimed at driving profitable growth and improving financial performance through analysis, mentorship, and accountability. Achieving committed financial results for key performance indicators (KPIs) such as manufacturing variances, operating income, cash flow, and capital investments will be a significant part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will work closely with process business partners to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Plant Controller's responsibilities, while also fostering financial acumen among both finance and non-finance team members.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight of all plant-related GAAP, SOX, and Baxter policy requirements and maintain responsibility for the plant's financial records (P&L and BS).
  • Communicate financial performance accurately and timely, including month-end closing, weekly pulses, quarterly forecasts, and annual budgets.
  • Support and participate in the standardization and modernization of ISC financial processes.
  • Identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement in financial and operational areas.
  • Develop and execute action plans to drive profitable growth.
  • Improve financial performance through analysis, mentorship, and accountability, achieving committed financial results for KPIs.
  • Liaise with process business partners to enhance the efficiency of the Plant Controller's responsibilities.
  • Develop the financial savvy of finance and non-finance team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (or country equivalent) required.
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred.
  • 7 plus years of experience in manufacturing or supply chain finance.
  • Background in standard costing, budget management, and capital analysis and control.
  • Effective communication skills at all levels of the organization in both formal and informal environments.
  • Experience in a global, diverse matrixed organization.
  • Ability to manage indirect reporting relationships effectively.
  • Experience working with Lean concepts and tools is preferred.
