About the position

The Meetings Manager at American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT) is responsible for orchestrating corporate meetings and events, transforming ideas into memorable experiences. This role requires strong organizational skills, creativity, and the ability to build relationships with clients and suppliers. The Meetings Manager will work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring seamless event execution while maintaining a focus on customer service and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate strong working relationships with clients by effectively communicating program details and anticipating their needs.
  • Orchestrate logistics for events to ensure they run seamlessly.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, suppliers, and teammates.
  • Negotiate effectively to secure favorable terms and conditions.
  • Proactively anticipate changes and develop innovative solutions.
  • Coordinate and attend global site inspections as needed.
  • Act as the executive producer for all event specifics and requirements.
  • Develop and manage budgets, auditing program-related billing for accuracy and tracking expenses.
  • Conduct post-event reconciliation and work with accounting to finalize billing before invoicing clients.
  • Evaluate program impact and plan for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of meeting planning experience.
  • Incredible communication skills to articulate vision and inspire others.
  • Highly motivated to meet timeline expectations.
  • Self-starter with a positive attitude and a sense of humor.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to handle unexpected challenges.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% for events.
  • 4-year college degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Cvent and comfort with technology.
  • Passion for creating presentations.
  • CMP certification preferred but not required.

  • Experience in corporate event management.
  • Familiarity with budgeting and financial management for events.
  • Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in meeting planning.
